While the clock ticks slowly, the ink from the Governor's pen is awaited. We have see a true grass roots effort in Wisconsin in which consumers and producers have come together to claim their liberty.
There have been many bumps in the road with one final hurdle to cross (the signing) before the real battle begins.
The bumps in the road have been: Steve Ingham, Cheryl Daniels, Rod Nilseustin, Jackie Owens, Tom Lietzke, and 35 Assemblymen and 8 Senators.
The multi-national conventional farming system will not be backing away from this brawl anytime soon. They know that they could "win" by default if we sit idle for the next 21 months.
Assuming SB434 will be signed soon, we will have to become even more diligent in working towards a permanent solution.
Now we have seen the opponents in Assembly try to kill the bill with 15 different amendments. They will continue to attack over the next 21 months.
We need a Raw Milk Association for Wisconsin, to protect the consumers rights, bring about a true, clean raw milk for human consumption and a raw milk intended for pasteurization distinction, laws that include all dairy producers ("No Farmer Left Behind"), and political efforts by the people to replace those elected representatives of the people that take their marching orders from corporations instead of the people that elect them.
